An @username is a payment address on AUTH. Anyone can be paid at a handle — and anyone can send without an account. Proving the username is the one step that needs identity: it is how AUTH knows the right person is attaching the payout destination. No ID documents, no KYC. AUTH never holds your funds or your keys.
